Another week and recalling the events are kinda fuzzy for some reason. Feeling overwhelmed by the holidays and doing all the things, my brain is on overdrive. We also had a busy week trying to figure out our oldest daughters learning ability evaluations and next course of action stuff. So thankful so many people are will to help us. All the options make it just as hard as having limited ones sometimes.

At one of our meetings with a eval educator we told her of our up coming plans to travel. She proceeded to tell us a story about a family from Australia who stayed with her family when she was younger. They had sold everything to buy an RV and go on a Walkabout in the U.S.  I loved the idea of calling our up coming journey a “Walkabout”.

What is a Walkabout some of you may be asking yourself?  I don’t really know the ins and outs of it either but I’m certainly going to find out more. What I do know is that it’s an aboriginal right of passage in Australia where the person goes into the wildness or perhaps as they say Billabong to find their way. I’ve heard it’s something one does when they are younger. She said they knew it was odd doing it so late in life. I say when it’s meant to be it will happen.  Walkabout sounds just more purposeful than journey for some reason. I hope our family does find its way while on the road. I am just so ready to go. I look around at all the stuff holding us back and it makes me sad. And with Xmas looming and more stuff coming in the sadness is only heightens.

Side note I bought our Instant Pot on Black Friday and I have still yet to use it 3 weeks later! I’m not a cook and it scares me. But I am determined to figure that thing out soon. I have read the instructions, downloaded a couple free recipe books and just need to take the plunge. Kinda a metaphor for our Walkabout in general!!!
